The Education for Reconciliation project website provides information about the project and related events, access to a range of downloadable teaching resources, and ideas and activities for teaching and promoting citizenship in schools.

Education for Reconciliation New Teaching Resources

Education for Reconciliation has published new resources for teachers:

Equality and Diversity  Building a Culture of Equality in Society A Citizenship Education Resources for Transition Year and Key Stage 4 is published in collaboration with the Equality Authority and the Northern Ireland Equality Commission.

The companion resource Grounds for Action.  Building a Culture of Equality in Society is published by the Equality Authority in collaboration with the CDU and the Northern Ireland Equality Commission

Palestine and Israel. When will there be a Just Peace? is published jointly with Sadaka. The Ireland Palestine Alliance.

Tackling Controversial Issues in the Citizenship Classroom is published in collaboration with the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST)

Project Closing Conference -  Embedding Reconciliation in Education     April 2012

The final conference of the Education for Reconciliation project was held in the City Hotel Derry Londonderry on April 24th and 25th 2012.  The conference was well attended by 62 teachers, members of curriculum support services, cross-border and local NGOs, and representatives from the NI Department of Justice.  The three inspiring key note speakers were:  Richard Moore form Children in Crossfire, Mo Durkan from Ilex, and Derick Wilson from the Univerisity of Ulster.

Workshops were run on:

  • Tackling Controversial Issues in the Citizneship Classroom
  • Restorative Practices in Schools
  • Peer Mediation in Schools

as well as on  three teaching resources for Transition Year and Key Stage 4 citizenship education:

  • Equality and Diversity
  • From Prison to Peace
  • Palestine and Israel.  When will there be a Just Peace?
